My Offerings
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) who works with adults and teens in Washington state to support the improvement of their relationship with food, enhancing body image, and addressing anxiety, depression, and trauma. I specialize in treating these mental health challenges.

I find that many of the values I've listed, which shape my practice, are interrelated. At the core, I have taken care to train myself in a strength-based perspective. Life is full of challenges and negativity, and it takes time to unlearn these thinking patterns, to find and realize your own strengths, attributes, and determination. A strength-based approach is crucial in the work I do, especially when the medical model and other models often capitalize on and gain from marginalized individuals, focusing on deficits and pathologizing, ultimately attributing these 'faults' back to the individual, all for the sake of profit. Together, we can step back and break free from this cycle.

All of the work I do, I constantly strive to operate from a trauma-informed approach. For me, the foundation of trauma-informed care is transparency and authenticity while maintaining compassion for a person’s lived experiences. This also involves understanding how intersectionality shapes each person’s experience and existence uniquely.
This means that the work we do progresses at a pace that is appropriate for the individual and their current circumstances. It also means that I am upfront about my skills and scope and may refer to another provider if we determine that my abilities are not the right fit for the client’s needs at this time.

While I do not identify as LGBTQIA+, I do identify as an ally. I am passionate about being an affirming provider. Some ways I commit to doing so include bias checking and acknowledging harm, understanding my own privileges and how they influence the work I do, continuing my education in the community and by the community, and engaging in the LGBTQIA+ community. My goal is to create a space that allows my clients to address, explore, and dismantle social oppressions and understand how intersectionality creates a unique experience for each person.
-
When working with clients, I use a Health at Every Size® lens. To me, this means I understand and respect the diverse range of bodies and accept and promote that 'health' can and will look different for different humans, including people of different abilities. Personally, the work I really enjoy supporting my clients with includes dismantling and challenging previous notions of health, diet culture, and the influence of patriarchy.
